The Pain Point:
The four Teen 3 belt divisions of grey, yellow, orange, and green all “graduate” from the children’s IBJJF competition circuit and feed into Juvenile 1’s blue belt division on IBJJF’s adult circuit.  Many of these top athletes miss the comradery of competing with their long-time friends, have compelling athletic options through their high school, are exposed to increasing social pressures, and face a brutal four-to-one paring of their division.  This is simply too much for most to handle, and they leave the sport (they love).

The Challenge:
The sport’s drought of mid-teen Jiu Jitsu competitors leaves the remaining athletes with few peers on their gym’s mat.  This can not only hinder their development, but it can get quite lonely as well.  There are only so many world-class Jiu Jitsu competitors to go around so we need to find a way to keep the rest engaged.  Plus, the natural dynamics of business, personalities, and circumstances can present additional challenges.

The Opportunity:
We want to help elite Jiu Jitsu competitors with their transition through the Juvenile blue belt division by helping keep their friends by their side as they enjoy unique experiences all over the world.  And if we can arm them with personalized guidance, organized structures, and constructive feedback, then the sky is going to be the limit.  This should result in more teenagers on the mats…and a richer experience for everyone.

The Process:
See left, you must first request a Recruit ID#.  That allows you to then register anonymously on PM’s Whoop Team. You can then participate in Roll Goals and be considered for an Assignment.

The Solution:
Project Mayhem offers athletes in combat sports a fun “club-like” structure that protects their healthy relationships and helps them achieve their full potential.  We will engage their friends with customized “assignments” that promote their development.  Our engagement as includes the development and monitoring of our proprietary process (above).

I’m breaking my attachment to physical power and possessions, because only through destroying myself, can I discover the greater power of my spirit.

Common Questions

Do I have to join a certain gym?

No, PM utilizes a “gym coalition” of partner-professors to develop each athlete. This allows competitors to maintain their home gym affiliation and relationship with primary professor. We just want to complement their efforts by building a team around them so they can enjoy far more benefits (more diverse training, additional friends, broader travel, increased visibility, etc…).

What is Project Mayhem’s focus?

The competitor. We want to reduce/eliminate the institution around the competitor. We understand their need and do not want to conflict with its goals in any way. We simply want to remove any unnecessary constraints they may impose on teenage jiu jitsu competitors.

What do SpaceMonkey benefits include?

Personalized goal setting with professional guidance and ongoing monitoring. We have active engagements with professional strength & conditioning coaches, nutritionists, and more. Our primary objective is to help SpaceMonkeys have fun as they achieve their full potential alongside friends with a thoughtful process that can be universally applied to most areas of life. While the list of international accomplishments is certainly valuable, so is the trip itself. Coupling it with friends and something love makes it even more so.

Are you affiliated with Fight Club?

No. We are in no way affiliated with Chuck Palahniuk‘s book or the subsequent movie, Fight Club. We all just understand the movie’s core message very well. Most of what we think we want is just being sold to us, happiness is really about sharing unique experiences with loved ones. Fundamental needs and wants like those become crystal clear when engaged in fundamental activities like fight sports.
